No matter your time at Adelphi鈥攚hether you鈥檙e a rising sophomore or just about to start your senior year, we know that financing your college career may be overwhelming at times. That鈥檚 why we鈥檙e here to answer your questions. .
Recent developments from New York State introduce a program offering New York residents 鈥渇ree tuition,鈥� while still requiring students to pay room, board and fees, at SUNY and CUNY institutions.
The legislative bill has an extensive list of fine-print details. It is our responsibility to ensure all students and families remain informed. And so, to date, these details appear to include:
- Students must maintain a minimum GPA鈥�or students will lose the grant.
- Students must complete 30 credits per year鈥�or students will lose the grant.
- Students must live and work in New York State after graduation for as many years as students receive the grant鈥�if not, they鈥檒l be required to repay the grant. In essence, the grant becomes a loan.
And if the funding runs short, students may be denied the free tuition grant altogether. A state-run lottery will decide who receives the grant, forcing many eligible families to be turned away.
