Students: Adelphi has a new app, designed specifically for you, based on your feedback.
Launched on August 9 for iOS devices, the new 天美传媒 student mobile app has already been downloaded by over 1,000 students. The new app focuses heavily on student success, and this is apparent in its design and layout. Early feedback has been positive, with comments such as 鈥淭his is amazing. I love this!,鈥� 鈥淟ove the app so far!” and “I used the AU2GO app for three semesters. It looked like it was from 2012 and some features were outdated. When I saw this new app released in the App Store, I needed an upgrade. Now that I have this app. It鈥檚 amazing.鈥�

The concept for this new app began over two years ago, when the web development and digital strategy team started surveying students on Adelphi’s campus to see what they wanted most in a mobile app. Overwhelmingly, the course schedule was the most important to the student body.
After the results were in, Mobile Application Developer Bryan Farrell and Manager of Mobile and Web Technologies Scott Finkelstein began programming the app for iOS and Android devices. Throughout the design process, Farrell met with students to make sure the app reflected their wants. Speaking with Finkelstein, it was clear that implementing the students’ preferences was most important: 鈥淭he data showed that there is a strong desire among students to easily see their courses and assignments. Bryan did an excellent job of designing the app and testing it with students before we landed on the final design.鈥�
This is showcased in the new app, where students can easily access:
- Their course schedule
- Upcoming assignments that professors enter in Moodle
- The academic calendar
- The campus map, with filters for all-gender bathrooms, mask pickup locations, etc.
- The directory, with each student鈥檚 academic adviser highlighted at the top
The data showed that there is a strong desire among students to easily see their courses and assignments. Bryan did an excellent job of designing the app, and testing it with students before we landed on the final design.
Farrell and Finkelstein are already working on implementing more features in future versions. Users who update to version 1.0.3 of the iOS version will see their preferred name and will be able to access the COVID-19 Health Screening Self-Check, which was a highly requested feature in the two weeks the app has been available and is required for anyone to submit before arriving on campus. Other planned updates include the Digital ID Card feature and the ability to search for a building on the campus map by its abbreviation rather than full name (for example, 鈥淪CB鈥� for 鈥淪cience Building鈥�).
