Dion Raptis and Ryan Keough, the general manager and chef of Spuntino Wine Bar and Italian Tapas, presented a check for $743.00 to the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program. Throughout
August the restaurant, which is located at The Gallery at Westbury Plaza in Garden City, ran a fundraiser where $1 from every glass of rose sold and $4 from every bottle of rose was set aside for the breast cancer program. 鈥淭he staff was really behind it,鈥� says Raptis. 鈥淚t鈥檚 local, the money stays here and the cause is amazing. It鈥檚 not too hard to sell. Our company has a desire to be involved with our community.鈥� This is the third year the restaurant has supported the breast cancer hotline. 鈥淭his was the best year yet,鈥� says the chef. 鈥淚t has gained momentum and is getting better and better.鈥�

Accepting the check were Hillary Rutter, the director of the Adelphi Breast Cancer Program, and Roz Catena, of Westbury, a hotline volunteer. Says Rutter, 鈥淲onderful efforts like this help us to provide the support that our callers need and we are very appreciative.鈥�
