Breast Cancer Hotline Volunteers Sought
The Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program seeks breast cancer survivors of all ages, race and ethnicity–men as well as women–to become volunteers. 听Thus, the program seeks a diverse group of volunteers to reflect the diversity of the people who are calling the hotline.
The three-day training program will take place on consecutive Tuesdays鈥�September 12, 19 and 26, from听9 am to 4 pm听at 天美传媒 in Garden City. This in-depth training includes presentations by nurse navigators and social workers on basic breast cancer education, active listening skills, and tips on engaging the community.
鈥淚t is so important for people who call our hotline to speak with someone who has been there,鈥欌�� says social worker Alida Rubenstein, volunteer and hotline coordinator.
