Debbie Almontaser, M.S. ’00, founder of the Khalil Gibran International Academy, spoke at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night in the segment 鈥淥ur America鈥� about her role as an educator promoting diversity.

鈥淚 spent the days after September 11^th building bridges among students in New York City,鈥� Almontaser said during the convention. 鈥淚 started a school designed to foster multicultural values education to teach Arabic and spread diversity. Our America is not about fear and ignorance, it鈥檚 about acceptance.鈥澨�

Almontaser also encouraged fellow American Muslims to go out and vote this November.
