Debbie Almontaser, M.S. ’00, founder of the Khalil Gibran International Academy, spoke at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night in the segment 鈥淥ur America鈥 about her role as an educator promoting diversity.
鈥淚 spent the days after September 11th building bridges among students in New York City,鈥 Almontaser said during the convention. 鈥淚 started a school designed to foster multicultural values education to teach Arabic and spread diversity. Our America is not about fear and ignorance, it鈥檚 about acceptance.鈥澨
Almontaser also encouraged fellow American Muslims to go out and vote this November.
